In order to prepare decorative plastics with pearlescent luster, different polymers with greatly different optical properties can be blended. For example, by adding polymethyl methacrylate to PC, products with pearlescent luster can be obtained. Taking advantage of the lubricity of silicone resin, polymer materials with good self-lubricating properties can be obtained by blending with many polymers.
By blending two resins with very different tensile strengths and poor miscibility and then foaming them, they can be made into multi-layered, porous materials with beautiful natural wood grains and can be used as substitutes for wood.
